BACHTIAR
The Bakhtiar nomads live in the Zagros Mountains, west of the city of Isfahan and around the city of Shahr-e-Kurd. Most of them speak the Persian dialect Lori, while others living in the province of Kuzestan speak Arabic. The carpets are sold under the common name Bakhtiar (also Baktiar, Bachtiar and Bakhtiari), sometimes with one variation: Boldaji, Feridan or Saman. The rugs are made of durable wool and are beaten very hard, which makes them thick and solid and are considered one of the most durable Persian rugs. A well-known pattern is the Khesti (garden pattern), where the carpet is divided into squares with plants and animals, symbolizing the Persian garden, but there are also life tree motifs with influences from Isfahan carpets. The best Bakhtiar rugs with the highest knot density are sometimes called Bibibaff.
