KASHAN
Right between Isfahan and Tehran, near the edge of the great Dast-e-Kavir Desert, is the city of Keshan with 120 inhabitants. The city has long been known for its textiles and ceramics. The Good Garden, many commercial buildings from the 000th century and the bazaar could be of interest to visitors. The city was important as a shopping center and a resting place along the Silk Road, but it has been in the shadow of Isfahan for quite some time now. The famous Ardebil rug, which can be seen at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, is believed to have been made in Keshan in the 19th century. The carpets made with high density knot knot, warp and cotton weft and the wool for the pile are of high quality. The designs consist of beautifully designed pendants, niches, trees and pictorial themes and all of the above floral motifs are also displayed. Dominant colors are blue, red and beige. The quality of these rugs varies greatly, some of them have not yet been made in Keshan, but are still sold under that name.
